Raley’s Partners with Customers to Raise Over 2 Million Pounds of Food
By Amy Davis | Friday January 9, 2009
West Sacramento, Calif. – Thanks to the generosity of Raley’s customers and colleagues, an incredible 99,145 holiday bags – which amounts to 2,320,989 pounds of food – were purchased in the annual Food For Families Holiday Bag program.
“This is a true testament to the remarkable generosity of our customers and colleagues,” said Food For Families Executive Director, Nancy McGagin. “And during a holiday season when food donations were in such great need, we were able to exceed our original goal.”
These food donations benefit Food For Families partners in the many communities served by Raley’s, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores to guarantee that 100% of the donations remains in the community where it’s collected.
In addition to the donations of non-perishable items in each bag, Raley’s once again provided each community partner with a supply of fresh meat products, including ham and poultry items so more families could enjoy a complete, well-balanced meal this holiday season.
