Donations Support Northern California and Nevada Charities

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA – The 2007 Food For Families Holiday Bag Program brought in tremendous results. Thanks to the generosity of Raley’s customers and employees, 3,247,952 pounds of nutritious, wholesome groceries were purchased from November 12 through December 24.
These food donations benefit Food For Families partners in the many communities served by Raley’s, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores, to guarantee that 100% of the donations remains in the community where it’s collected. In addition to the donations of non-perishable items in each bag, Raley’s provided each community partner with a supply of fresh meat products, including ham and poultry items – all made possible by company ownership – so more families could enjoy a complete, well-balanced meal.
Some of the community partners include various chapters of The Salvation Army, Second Harvest Food Bank and California Emergency Foodlink, as well as local food banks, churches, community centers and other agencies throughout Northern California and Nevada. The donations helped food banks and service groups prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas demands to assist families in need this holiday season.
“Thanks to the support of our employees and customers, we were able to provide many local charities with substantial food donations, helping less families go hungry this holiday season,” said Nancy McGagin, Executive Director of Food For Families. “I am always amazed by the generous amount of donations we receive in each community we serve.” Raley’s thanks the community and customers for partnering with the company in its annual giving campaign.
Food For Families began as a holiday food drive in 1986 and was founded by Joyce Raley Teel and CEO emeritus Charles Collings. The legacy of the program continues, thanks to the support of Raley’s employees, customers and community partners.
