WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – For the next three weeks, Raley’s and Bel Air Pharmacies are proud to partner with CBS13/CW31 to provide free colorectal cancer screening kits to customers throughout the greater Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto regions.
Each year in the United States alone, more than 52,000 people die of colorectal cancer – nearly the same as those who die of breast cancer and HIV combined. A disease that attacks men and women in equal numbers, it has the third-highest mortality rate of all cancer-related deaths.
“Early detection of colorectal cancer is crucial,” said Flint Pendergraft, Raley’s Vice President of Pharmacy and Healthy Lifestyle Initiatives. “By providing these tests at no cost, we hope to increase awareness of colon cancer among our customers in the many communities our stores serve.”
The Test for Life kits are easy-to-use and are self administered in the privacy of one’s home. There’s no laboratory processing required and the results are available within two minutes.
CBS 13 Health Reporter Diana Penna said, “To support this awareness campaign, we’ll have ongoing health reports sharing important facts about colon cancer, cancer fighting foods and health tips as well as stories showing how early detection has saved lives within our own community.”
Customers in the greater Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto regions can pick up a free Test for Life kit in their local Raley’s or Bel Air Pharmacy Department between March 10 – 28.
