Statistics show wine consumption in the U.S. is on the rise and California remains one of the largest wine producer in the world. But Raley’s and Bel Air shoppers don’t have to drive all the way to Napa Valley to go wine tasting. Seven Northern California stores now offer weekly in-store wine tasting.
Beginning this week the Raley’s stores in Granite Bay and the Folsom (Blue Ravine Rd.) will join five others in hosting wine tasting events that feature select wineries and food sampling from the store’s Fresh Deli.
“This is a great way for our customers to try new wines in a casual atmosphere,” said Raley’s Wine Merchant Kathy Williams. “Many people stop in on their way home from work. They sample some wine, socialize with neighbors and get their grocery shopping done in one trip to the store.”
Each week a different winery pours its latest releases, which usually include two white varietals and two red varietals. The cost is $3 per person, but that fee is refunded in the form of a $3 off coupon good for any bottle of wine. Participants must be at least 21 years old. Wine tasting events take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Participating stores include:
Bel Air – 2760 East Bidwell in Folsom
Raley’s – 692 Freeman Lane in Grass Valley
Bel Air – 3250 Arena Blvd. in Sacramento (Natomas)
Raley’s – 3935 Park Dr. in El Dorado Hills
Raley’s – 25025 Blue Ravine Rd. in Folsom
Raley’s – 6845 Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay
Raley’s – 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe
This Week Only: In honor of Super Bowl Sunday, every wine tasting store listed above will also be sampling a variety of microbrews for an additional $2 per person. To find out which wineries and breweries will be pouring at these locations, please visit raleys.com/cheers.
